I just spent 2 glorious hours with Kman out at Sauvie Island in the 90-something degree heat and I have to say, that little man brings something special to 5×5 intervals.
Kman: “Good job! Push it a little bit - you’re doing good!”
Heidi: “Kman, I’m in zone five! Where do you want me to push it to? Besides, you’re smoking me on a f-ing ‘cross bike… I hate you!!”
I digress.
Are you bringing a mad posse to Pain on the Peak this week? I know Ironclad will be ready to throw down and I’m wondering who else will put up numbers. The team trophy is a prize worth stacking races for and I have photographic proof.
Behold!

Here’s a little bit of the description:
You turn the cranks, the chain moves the small chainring in the back, chainring has skewer “slappers” welded to it and they smack the HELL out of the cowbells! The tiny bicycle mounted on top bounces up and down with each Whack like a crazed marionette!
It’s a toy. It’s a trophy! It’s a whatchamagizmo that will make you proud (and possibly annoy your family) for years to come!
Seriously though, the artist, Tom Boring of Second Chance Sculptures, donated this piece to the event (special thanks to Matt D’Elia and Marc Altman for supplying parts) and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’ll have a “Donations for the Artist” bucket next to the trophy Saturday and all money collected will go straight into the pocket of Mr. Boring to thank him for his super creative inaugural POTP trophy.
Bring your early-season ‘cross fervor and be prepared to throw down. We’ll see you at the Pain.
Cowbells,
Heidi
