As some of you remember, K-Man has had some issues with his jersey stinking.

Which could be a good thing.

But for the sake of the peloton and the animals, K-Man decided to take some action.

After wracking his brain… K-Man tried a couple of solutions… some friendly folks (who perhaps were offended by the odors) offered some suggestions and even some product.

First off, K-Man tried the regular laundry detergent.

As you can see Miffy still needed a gas mask.

Next came direct application of a generic “fine fabric wash”

When exposed to the jersey, Kiffy keeled over as you can see.

OK. Time to bring out the big guns. Mirazyme by McNett- “Odor Eliminator for Outdoor and Watersports Gear”

Doesn’t work on jerseys. All the animals panicked. K-Man is getting desperate here. I’m digging underneath the sink to see what I can use!!! Maybe this’ll work?!

ANTISEPTIC. Kills germs that cause Bad Breath, Plaque & the gum disease Gingivitis

If it kills germs that cause stinky breath, maybe it’ll work on the germs that cause bad odor.

Before I could try out the Listerine and smell minty fresh, Norrene came to the rescue with some Win to try out.

Unfortunately… Win didn’t win against the deadly K-Man germs. Still stinky like poo. Dang it… K-Man needs something that’s antibacterial… maybe has bleach. Hold on… lemme rummage. AH HA!

What? T-Girl says no. Hm… ok. Still need something STRONG. How about THIS?

KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN DANGER: HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. CAUSES EYE INJURY.” Maybe not a good idea. Perhaps try a search on the internet…

Tea tree oil… hmm… diluted.

Three out of four happy guinea pigs! This stuff actually works. Dilute 1/8 oz. with a full spray bottle. Spray on the offending parts of the garment- let soak. Then wash. Use after every time you sweat in the garment. Definitely tamped down the odor for me.

Could there be anything better? At the suggestion of Erik V. I tried Spray n’ Wash.

WOW! Four happy guinea pigs. This is the best out of everything- and it won’t make your clothes disintegrate like Lime Away. Spray down the stinky areas after every time you exercise. The stink magically disappears. This will control odor. K-Man highly recommends this product.

Notes: Tried vinegar, baking soda. Made a mess when I combined them.

You obviously have some time on your hands! :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a couple offending jerseys that could use this.

Did you try using plain old white vinegar as the fabric softener and just your regular detergent?

Most important: don’t put your cycling clothes in the dryer–it only locks in the stinkification forever.

Tried vinegar & baking soda? Together? Those were the instructions on my son’s Erupting Volcano science kit (along with - “wear protective eyewear”, and “use with adult supervision”).
I’ll give the spray n wash a try. I still think the baking soda soak works though. Perhaps you generate microbial-resistant stink germs?

I use Win detergent and when you first switch to it, it takes a couple of washes to get the smell out. After that if yuo use it on a regular bases it keeps the smell out.

Late to the party, but my tried-and-true remedy for removing fish cannery stink is a can of 7-up or Sprite mixed in with the laundry — add it to the water with the soap and voila. (Vinegar works too, but then your clothes smell like vinegar.)
