What a busy week I tell ya. Fortunately, today is a little better- and I can get around to putting in updates.

News
Congrats to Kendra Wenzel for being elected to the USCF Board of Trustees!! This is good news.
Calendar
The 2009 OBRA Calendar is coming together quite well. I’ll actually keep it listed as a featured article and update it as I get more information. I’m actually pretty surprised that so many dates have been set so quickly. A quick note: Cascade and the Oregon Pro Cycling Classic won’t have their dates set until USAC approves the NRC calendar.
This year, the OBRA championships will also be open to bidding. Successful applicants will have the championships for two years and will have to re-apply after the two years have expired. (That does not mean that the course will automatically change after two years) I’ll be developing the criteria in the next two weeks. Factors will include:
Promoter history
Course
Geographic location
History of the location
Community support
There will be more but I’d like to keep it simple for promoters. The panel that will make the award will likely be comprised of board members, a promoter and an at large racer.
Cyclocross
I’m totally stoked for the upcoming cyclocross season. Logistics are slowly starting to fall into place. Brad Ross has been spotted- so things are good.
SSCXWC is coming back according to CXMagazine- scheduled for Nov. 8 & 9.
A quick note on USGP- it’s not on our calendar yet because it isn’t an OBRA race and no one’s sent us the info. Brooke mentioned that there were some rumors that USGP is not coming to Portland. Rest assured it is. You can check out the USGP calendar. We’ll link to it eventually as soon as Brad Ross appears.
Race Lineup for this weekend
9/23 Track Natz Qualifier (Alpenrose)
9/23 Callahan’s TT (So. O)
9/24 OBRA Hillclimb Champs (Timberline)
9/24 Kruger’s Farm Kermesse (Portland)
9/24 Pistis Short Track (So. O)
Racing
I’ve been a little out of the loop so this’ll be a big update. I have the footage from the 1/2 OBRA champs crit- unfortunately, the memory ran out 1 lap before I bit it on corner 4 at 28 mph. Bummer.

Driver: “Hey, you think you own the whole road?”
Mr. Wheeler: “Hurumph! Of course I own the road. My taxes pay for them…I pay for the roads and I’ll use ‘em.”
Mr. Wheeler: [yelling at passing cars] “Get off my road! Move over! Lemme pass!”
At traffic lights: “Aargh, 30 seconds gone of my life.”
