I can personally attest to the increased speed joe mentions in Stage 1. And stage 2. Oh, and stages 4 and 5. Every stage, with the exception of stage 6, felt like a one day race — very different from the “early flurry, middle muddle, finishing fury” of yer standard NRC race. It was very fun racing. I’m pretty sure this dynamic was mostly due to the Astana guys, but nobody can be sure for sure.

I noticed the Pro/1 field finished the first stage FIFTY minutes faster than in 2007. Yes, 5-0 fifty. Holy mother of criminy.
